Getting started
What is Hashcade?
A browser arcade connected to Bitcoin mining. You can try the games in practice mode, or connect a miner and play ranked games that earn points in the current era. Hashcade is a beta project.
Do I need an account or a miner to play?
Practice is free and works without either. Ranked play needs an account and recent accepted mining work linked to it. Practice scores do not earn Era Points or a gameplay reward share.
How do I connect my miner?
Create an account, open Miner, and copy the pool address and your assigned worker username into your miner's pool settings. Keep the worker username exactly as shown. The Miner page shows connection status, accepted work and hashrate.
Why does ranked play say Mining Required?
The server has not received recent accepted shares for your worker, or its pool feed is unavailable. Check the pool address, worker username and connection in Miner. A rejected share does not renew mining access. Practice stays available while you fix the connection.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Games provide touch controls. Some fixed-shape boards work better in one orientation; when needed, the game shows a rotate hint. Fullscreen is available through the game header.
Your account
Are usernames case-sensitive?
Your username is displayed with the capitalization you save. Matching is case-insensitive: MinerFox, minerfox and MINERFOX identify the same username, so another account cannot claim a different capitalization. Use 3–24 letters, numbers, dots, underscores or dashes, starting with a letter.
What if I forget my password?
Choose “Forgot password? Use a recovery code” on the login screen. Recovery replaces the code, signs out other devices and clears the old password. Set a new password in Profile and save the new recovery backup. If you are still signed in, you can also create a new recovery code from Profile.
Can my email address recover my account?
Not currently. Email is optional contact information, is not verified, and does not provide password reset. Keep your password and recovery code safe. Without either or a signed-in device, the account cannot be safely recovered from an email, worker name or Bitcoin address alone.
Can I use the same account in two tabs or devices?
One game connection is allowed for an account. Signing in on another device ends the previous sign-in. Terms, Privacy and this FAQ open within your current game page, so reading them does not open a second game session.
How do I change my name or photo?
Open your account menu, choose Profile, then Player. Edit your username or upload a PNG, JPEG or WebP photo up to 2 MB and click Save player. Photos are cropped to a square. If an older version saved your name in lowercase, save it once with your preferred capitalization.
Playing and points
What happens when I pause?
Pause opens a five-second decision window. Continue playing cancels the departure during that window. The Lobby button in the game header, a second pause press, or the end of that window saves the run and returns you to the lobby. In shared arenas, the exposed exit rules still apply until your departure is confirmed.
What happens if I switch tabs or leave the game window?
The run pauses and the game remains visible when you return. Returning focus does not resume it automatically. Choose Resume when ready. Your saved game appears before its three-second countdown, giving you time to see your position.
Why do my saved points decrease?
Each resting game's score and credited Era Points retain 95% per day, compounded over elapsed time. Other games have their own rest clocks. Accepted mining work and already sealed reward records are separate from this decay.
Is a game's leaderboard my accumulated score?
No. It shows your best verified single-run score in that game during the current era. Faster active time breaks equal-score ties. Pause and resume continue the same run; a new attempt or respawn starts a new score and timer. Your total Era Points combine the credited points across games and can differ from a leaderboard best.
Does playing longer earn extra points?
Time alone does not multiply your score or reward share. Active time breaks leaderboard ties; individual games can also have their own timers and speed bonuses. Paused time does not count as active play.
What ends an era?
A pool-found block ends the era. The standings and reward basis are sealed, and a new era starts with fresh game totals. Historical results and reward records stay available.
Mining and rewards
How is a block reward split?
For new eras, the configured split is 50% to the finder, 10% to players in proportion to verified gameplay weight at the cutoff, 35% to participants in proportion to reconciled accepted mining work, 4.5% to the house and 0.5% as CKPool gratitude. Older eras retain the allocation rules under which they were sealed. See reward terms for eligibility and exceptions.
Are Era Points or the Miner estimate guaranteed Bitcoin?
No. Points measure gameplay contribution. The Miner page estimates a possible allocation if a block were found at that moment; it changes as everyone contributes. An actual payout depends on a valid block, reconciliation, available confirmed funds, the sealed allocation and payout review.
How do I receive a reward?
Save a receiving address for the correct Bitcoin network in Profile. After a block is verified and sufficiently confirmed, the distribution must be approved before eligible players can claim. Open Block rewards, choose an available reward and review the receiving address. A configured payout worker processes the claim; the claim status shows its progress. Never share a wallet seed phrase or private key.
Why is Claim unavailable?
The block may still be confirming, reconciliation or approval may be pending, payments may be disabled, or your allocation may be below the configured minimum. The current server uses Bitcoin mainnet, with payments Disabled, a configured confirmation requirement of 101 and a minimum claim of 1,000 sats. Test-network and demo results are not spendable mainnet Bitcoin. Check the status in Block rewards.
What is accepted difficulty, and why isn't it the share count?
Accepted shares counts how many valid shares arrived. Accepted difficulty adds their assigned work, since one high-difficulty share represents more work than a low-difficulty share. Mining allocation uses reconciled accepted work, not the raw share count. Rejected shares do not add accepted work.
Privacy
Do I have to allow analytics?
No. The registration choice is unchecked by default. You can change it in the account menu's Settings page. Optional analytics covers named page visits, interface actions and foreground practice time; signed-in events are linked to your account. It does not collect form contents, passwords or gameplay key presses. Verified game, mining and reward records are still needed to run the service. Read the Privacy Policy.
